Educational Info on Enagic Kangen Water®

Is Kangen Water® Good? What is Kangen Water?

which water ionizer is better?

Have you been to an Enagic meeting and seen the demonstrations about how wonderful Kangen Water® is? Well, alkaline ionized water is great water. Kangen Water® is simply the trademarked name for the alkaline ionized water made by the Enagic brand of water ionizer. The meaning of the name Kangen Water® is "return to source" since all water ionizers duplicate what happens to water in nature when it runs over rocks.

Is Kangen Water® or ionized alkaline water a scam?

Ionized alkaline water is a global phenomenon. It is not a passing fad, scam, hype or product filled with false promises. Many medical studies have been done on the use and benefits of water ionizers and alkaline ionized water and clearly prove that Kangen Water® and alkaline ionized water is nothing close to a scam.

All water ionizers are capable of making good alkaline ionized water, regardless of brand. You will receive the same benefits of drinking Kangen Water® and cooking with Kangen Water® as you would from drinking or cooking with alkaline ionized water from any other brand of water ionizer. So then the question becomes, what is it about the Enagic SD 501 Leveluk water ionizer that justifies its $4,000 price tag?

From what we can tell, the real reason that an Enagic SD 501 Leveluk costs about double that of most competitors water ionizers is because Kangen/Enagic is a MLM company and has to pay commission to eight different people with every sale. Our research indicates that you can save approximately $2,000 without sacrificing quality or performance by choosing virtually any competing brand over a Kangen/Enagic water ionizer. So the real question is not "is alkaline water a scam?" but "is a Kangen/Enagic machine really worth an extra $2,000?" We have yet to uncover a reason to suggest that it is.

Are you wondering if there are less expensive alternatives to Enagic Kangen Water®?

The answer is YES!

We've looked at and tested many of the alternative brands of alkaline ionized water ionizers and they vary in price point from about $1,000 up to the $4,000 water machine sold by Enagic.

Here are some things you may want to know when deciding on which brand of water ionizer may best suit your needs. The Enagic SD 501 Leveluk water ionizer does have a fast flow rate, but so do several of the others on the market that are priced significantly less. The Enagic SD 501 Leveluk has calcium sulfite (*) in its filter to boost ionization and oxidation reduction potential. Calcium sulfite (*) is banned in multiple countries for human consumption and causes some people drinking the alkaline ionized Kangen Water® to have heart palpitations. While the Enagic Kangen Water® really is very helpful for many people, some do not tolerate it well because of the calcium sulfite (*).

The Enagic company reps often market based on the size of the SD 501 ionization plates or electrodes. While they do have large plates, the large size is not needed as some other brands with smaller plates are able to produce exactly the same or greater ORP value. And if large plates are important to you, there is one brand that we know if that has larger plates, check out ChansonWater.com and their Chanson Miracle M.A.X. water ionizer priced at less than half of the Kangen SD 501 Leveluk.

When comparing the Kangen SD 501 Leveluk to the Chanson Miracle M.A.X. there were a couple of things we noticed:

  • The Kangen SD 501 Leveluk uses Sodium Hyperchlorite to produce their strong acid water. This is a chemical solution that comes with warnings on it about not being for human consumption and not using it in a closed room. We have also heard that it is possible to void the Enagic product warranty if it is spilled inside the Enagic water ionizer.
  • We've noticed that the Chanson Miracle M.A.X. water machine uses Himalayan rock salt to make its acid water and that it has 82 nutritional minerals in it.
  • Kangen Enagic uses an old transformer unit, which blasts 230w of power onto the platinum plates regardless of the rate of flow, wearing them out faster than necessary.
  • At only 150 watts and 5 amps, Chanson water ionizers use the least power of any ionizer on the market without sacrificing quality or performance. The Chanson Miracle M.A.X. uses a sophisticated SMPS power system--the same one that is used in the new flat-screen panel TVs. This system automatically adjusts the power to the plates based on the rate of water flow, doubling the longevity of your unit!
  • Kangen Enagic is an 8 point MLM (Multi Level Marketing) company. Each time a unit is sold about half goes to 8 people in a commission structure!
  • Chanson Water is a NON MLM company. You pay for only what you receive, not someone else's bonus!
  • Kangen Enagic Leveluk SD501, and most other water ionizers, can only adjust the pH by .5. Because the pH scale is logarithmic, pH 9.5 is actually 5x more alkaline than pH 9.0.
  • The Chanson Miracle M.A.X. can micro-adjust the pH by as little as .1 to suit the needs of your individual body!
  • Enagic ionizers undergo a 22-point inspection by 5 inspectors
  • Chanson ionizers undergo a 29-point inspection by 9 inspectors

Warning

Enagic is not the only ionizer brand that uses Calcium Sulfite in their water ionizer filter to remove chlorine and boost ORP measurements. Many brands use it because it is difficult for their machines to get strong ORP values in some water sources.

(*) It has been brought to our attention that Chanson also manufactures Calcium Sulfite for external use in their Shower Filters to remove chlorine which becomes a carcinogenic gas when heated with hot water.

However our research shows Chanson does not use it in their water ionizer or drinking water filters because they have no problem getting the strong ORP values and have concerns for the consumers health.

The information herein is for educational purposes and is not meant to sway anyone to a particular brand. All brands mentioned here are great brands, with great products that produce great life giving alkaline ionized water. Here is a link to one comparison chart that we have created about features of the Enagic SD 501 Leveluk water ionizer and two other ionizers. Oh, one caution, we have read marketing materials by independent reps that say they have seen other brands cause cancer, or kidney stones or blah, blah, blah. In all of our extensive research, we have never found this to be anything more that a scare tactic to steer your to their particular brand.
